Privacy Policy: Sacred Seasons

Everyday Peacemaking ยท Last updated [PLACEHOLDER: date you publish this]

Sacred Seasons is a place to pray through the seasons that shape us. We built it to keep what you bring to God between you and God.

What stays on your phone

Everything you write in the app stays on your own phone or tablet. That includes your reflections, journal entries, answers to questions, intentions, and your progress through Advent. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. There is no account and no sign-in.

Deleting the app removes everything it saved.

Speaking instead of typing

If you choose "Speak instead of typing" in your journal, your phone's own speech service (from Apple on iPhone, or Google on Android) turns your words into text. Depending on your phone, that service may process your voice on its own servers, under Apple's or Google's privacy policy. The app never records or keeps your voice, and nothing you say is sent to us. The text lands in your journal and stays on your phone like everything else you write.

Anonymous usage counts (you can turn these off)

To learn which practices help people, the app can send simple, anonymous counts to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused service. For example:

These counts never include anything you write, your name, your email, your contacts, or your location. To count repeat visits, the app makes a random number on your phone, and TelemetryDeck receives only a scrambled (hashed) version of it. It cannot be used to identify you, and we never combine it with any other information.

You can turn this off anytime in the app: Help, then Settings, then "Share anonymous usage." When it's off, the app sends nothing at all.

Links

Some buttons open web pages in your phone's browser, such as our website, Dr. Julene's spiritual direction page, or a sign-up form. Those pages have their own privacy practices. Nothing from your journal or prayers is ever sent with them.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
